PROPOSAL
OF COMPUTER LABORATORY
Abstract
Give an overview of existing environment, and summarize the items being requested. Include a brief explanation as to how the requested technology will improve student access to technological resources and/or enhance the quality of students’ academic experiences through the use of technology and/or increase the integration of technology into the curriculum
1. Background
The existence of computer laboratory in IT Department of UIN SUSKA RIAU is very urgent and vital, because education process can’t held well without availability of computer lab.
The existing lab does not contain sufficient computer resources to support the IT Department increased enrollment. However, for future semesters, additional computer lab space is essential. So, there is a need for a new computer laboratory for students.
The new computer lab has been part of the Information Technology Department’s planning for several years, and indeed is now officially part of the university plan. In addition to the Information Technology courses, the lab is to be available to IT classes, so faculty can schedule computing projects in the lab. During times when no classes are scheduled, the lab will be open to any student registered at UIN SUSKA.
We view it as critical to open the new computer lab as soon as possible, for the reasons described above. Obviously, the additional lab space the Department is receiving from the university is useless without computer equipment. We hope that equipping the new lab will be a high priority.
In order to reached the necessary above, therefore we submit this proposal.
2. Purpose
We desire to improve technology integration and increase student computer utilization by establishing a new lab consisting of twenty desktop computers with internet access.
This IT Computer Lab will provide instructional support for IT classes. Because currently, all web-based sections of IT courses meet in the computer lab.
All students will be able to use this computer lab just like any other computer lab on campus, providing them with their usual technology needs while at the same time exposing them to new technologies that they have not seen elsewhere on campus.
It is our common vision that every student at IT Department of UIN SUSKA RIAU be provided excellent technology-related instruction. We believe that in order for students to be successful now and in the future, we must continue to grow professionally and consider technology in every aspect of the curriculum.
Establishing a new computer lab equipped with internet access, students will improve on the Assessment of Knowledge and skills and move to an Exemplary status.
3. Personal Computer
The computer lab with room format 8 x 10 m2 will contain 20 PC computers.

4. PERSONAL COMPUTER MAINTENANCE
In Order To Maintenance the Personal Computer from failure treatment we decide to accept the person who expert in maintenance Personal Computer. If there is viruses always scan and update the system, if there is a broken software Personal Computer, we treat the Personal Computer and change the broken one. If there is a broken hardware Personal Computer we make a proposal to Dekan or Rektor to change the broken one.

6. MANGEMENT STUDY
Management study in this proposal we have planning to do this plan, The Assistan Lab always work together with the lecturer in order to use the laboratory, and always work in team in use gathering.
7. COST AND TIME
The implementation this planning our prediction if this step of proposal in agree from the rector and other who involved in this proposal, we need 6 months to implementation from first step until finishing this lab.

CONCLUSION

We hope the program in this proposal can gives description about condition of IT Department in UIN SUSKA Riau and will be the consideration to be given support.
